Strawberry blueberry smoothie

After wandering around for about an hour at home wondering what I should eat, I chanced upon a container of yogurt and I thought – smoothie! So I made one, and I am drinking it as I write. And boy does it taste good!!  It’s quick and healthy too. So here’s the recipe.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • Yogurt; 3-4 tbsp. Preferably vanilla flavored. If plain, add sugar (~3-4tsp) . The yogurt is to give something liquidy to the blender to work with. Can replace with milk, but the yogurt has the advantage of being easier to digest.
  • Banana; 1/2. Acts as a base fruit.
  • Blueberries; 1 fistful. Frozen ones stay a long time in the freezer.
  • Strawberries; 5+3
  • Once you are comfortable making smoothies, add/replace fruits as you like and tell us about it!

This recipe is using a Magic Bullet. If you don’t have one, I strongly recommend getting one; and see below for directions. It really IS useful, and well worth the price. Put in a mug, 2 tbsp of yogurt, all the fruits except 3 strawberries, and then the remaining yogurt on top. The mug should be almost full. Blend till smooth. At this point, the blending should have created some space on top, so put in the remaining strawberries and blend again till smooth. Your smoothie is ready!

If you don’t have a Magic Bullet, use a blender. Just remember that if you’re filling the container, make sure there is yogurt on the top AND the bottom; it makes for easier blending. Besides that, just multiply proportions by the number of servings you want. And then go and buy a Magic Bullet. If you’re in the United States, I recommend checking out a store like Kohl’s since they often have things like the Magic Bullet (or similar things) on sale. If you’re elsewhere, look around!
