About Us

We have been friends for ages…. yes, since we were 10. So, not only have we shared our ups and downs, but we’ve also exchanged a fair number of recipes, cooking tips and secrets over the last few years. Both of us seem to be equally interested in not just eating tasty food, but healthy tasty food, without completely neglecting the oh-so-comforting foods!

We are a scientist, an engineer, a martial artist, and a visual artist. So health, rationality, and an appeal to all the senses are all factors important  in our decision to cook something. Restaurants are places we seem to go to when we are too lazy to cook and we’ll have reviews for those. Basically, a one stop shop and we call it One Stop Eats.

Thank you for visiting and please leave your valuable comments and suggestions!

The People Behind the Blog

Amitabh Ghoshal

Food is central to my existence – not just because I eat it 3-5 times a day, but also because it affects my moods and my health. I am interested in every kind of cuisine, and the only discriminatory factors are (1) that it taste good, and (2) that it be healthy. OK, so sometimes I ignore the second one, but try not to do that very often. 😉 As I prepare to set a pattern for the rest of my life (yay for ending graduate school!) I will try to be more thoughtful in how I eat, and this blog is how I will share that experience with you.

When I am not cooking, I am working as an Optical Physicist at UCSB or running a non-profit to improve lives through martial arts.

Food, especially, Mom’s food and Bombay’s street food …. oh yeah! are very close to my heart. I know they are both as far apart from each other as could be. One is super healthy and well balanced, the other is far from any definition of healthy and is just about the taste. But, they both feature in my kitchen with my own touch added to them. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy other cuisines, I definitely do and like how they add variety to what I cook at home. This food blog is about sharing all that with all of you.

When I’m not cooking, I’m working as an Electrical Engineer, making things sound better. And when I’m not doing that either, I’m painting. I believe I will be a full time artist some time in the future. But right now it remains a goal that I’m working towards. My paintings range from tribal art forms from India to abstract, free forms. If you’d like to see my world of art it is here: Meenakshi’s Art Work
